Youth aged 13 to 18 who are involved in the Don and Moyers Boys & Girls Club JUMP program will get hands-on gardening experience. Located on North 1st Street in Downtown Champaign, the Prosperity Garden allows the young people who work in the garden a chance to grow their own food, while also providing physical activity. In addition to planting, tending, harvesting and cooking what they grow, members will sell their extra produce at the Farmer’s Market on Historic 1st Street starting on June 9. Market patrons are invited to take a tour of the garden to see what’s growing.

The Prosperity Garden program is the result of collaboration between agencies including the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance, U of I Extension and Champaign County Master Gardeners, the JUMP program, the Don Moyers Boys and Girls Club, the City of Champaign, and the Regional Planning Commission.
